TGSS loves Coco, too!

Ty Gurney teaching a land lesson to Coco!Did you see it? Ty and the gang made primetime TV on E! Networks, Ice Loves Coco. Ice and his beautiful wife, Coco, visited Oahu for the their 11th anniversary back in December and they came to TGSS to learn how to surf. Well, Ice sat on the beach and watched CoCo ride the waves of Waikiki! Ty had a great time teaching her how to surf and Gracie, TGSS’s resident pup and her dad James, rode an awesome wave, too! We’ve had a great spring break here at TGSS! Saw many old friends and met lots of new ones. We had a blast with our kids camps, too! We can’t wait till summer. Aloha!

Aloha Spring Break!

Aloha everyone! Can you believe that we’re already at the end of first quarter for 2012?? Hope everyone has been having a great year so far, here’s a quick update on what’s going on at TGSS-
After a short breather on the island after a busy holiday season, spring break has descended upon us in full swing and we are ready to go! Stoked to see a lot of old friends and familiar faces back on the Island and also meeting a lot of cool new people from all over the world. The second session of our ever popular Spring Break Kids Surf Camp starts tomorrow, should be tons of fun (we will be posting photos on our facebook page). If you’ve been following our Facebook page, you’ll know that a couple of months ago the popular reality show Ice T loves Coco shot a segment of their show at TGSS. We are excited to share that the episode is currently scheduled to air on April 22nd on the E! Network, don’t miss the special guest appearance by Gracie!!!

We are also super stoked to be expecting our first big swell of the year on the South Shore later this week (overhead waves!), woot woot!!! A quick reminder that since we are getting busy, don’t forget to book your lessons in advance to secure your preferred time slot!

Ty Gurney Surf School Fitness Camp

Summer’s almost here! You know what that means… it’s time to ditch the over-sized sweaters and get that body back into shape. And what better place to get in shape then in Hawaii with Ty Gurney Surf School!

Ty Gurney Surf School is excited to offer a four or seven-day Surf Fitness Camp to men and women looking to explore Hawaii while getting fit and healthy at the same time. Camp will offer a combination of surf, stand-up paddle, hiking and yoga/fitness classes guaranteed to get you on the way to a fit and healthy lifestyle. In addition, a full-body fitness assessment and nutrition plan will be outlined for you at the beginning and end of camp.

Ty Gurney Surf School instructors will give multiple surf and stand-up paddle lessons as well as will take you on 1/2 day surf safari adventures that will include hiking, surfing, swimming and snorkeling at some of the best spots on the island of Oahu. You will also have your own qualified personal trainer/fitness instructor to guide you through daily fitness classes and/or oceanfront yoga classes right in front of your room. Included in the Surf Fitness Camp is a complete fitness assessment upon arrival – providing a guide on how to get fit and healthy through exercise and nutrition while having a blast!

7-day Surf Fitness Camp*
Saturday – Friday
1-bedroom Bali Unit: $3100 Beach Studio: $2760

Spring Break Surf Kids Camp!

Spring Break is quickly approaching! Get your kids signed up for the popular Ty Gurney Surf School Spring Break Kids Surf Camp!

At camp, kids will learn how to surf or practice and learn new surf skills. They’ll have time to play in the water and have a great time with friends and the awesome Ty Gurney Surf School instructors.

We are offering two spring break camps:
Session 1:
Monday, March 19
Tuesday, March 20 and
Wednesday, March 21
OR
Session 2:
Monday, March 26
Tuesday, March 27
Wednesday, March 28
Both camp sessions are from 1pm – 4pm., daily.

Camp costs $175 + tax and includes all equipment, a TGSS T-shirt and a cool souvenir photo.

Requirements to participate in the Ty Gurney Surf School Spring Break Kids Camp:
*Kids should be between the ages 6-15 years old
* All students must be able to swim.
* Kids should bring their own sunscreen, rash guard, water and lunch.
* Kids need to be dropped off at TGSS between 12:45 and 1 pm each afternoon and picked up by 4pm.

TGSS gets in on the APEC action!

Honolulu, Hawaii was the host for APEC 2011 (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), a 21 member association from the Asia-Pacific region to talk about the economics of the area.  The city prepared for months to get ready for this very prestigious conference and Ty Gurney Surf School was there to be part of the welcoming committee!
